Kristie Moore


Contributor Biography

Kristie Moore obtained her M.A. in Art Education, Museum Studies from Ohio State University where her research on addressing difficult subjects (ie. violence) through visual culture in museums, enhanced her belief in the role museums can have in cultivating awareness and social justice. Moore’s current personal and professional interest is in how arts administrators can create a culture of ecological awareness and sustainability in communities through museums that combine individual action with stewardship for the environment becoming catalysts of collective change. Moore’s interest in sustainability and ecological thinking in museum pedagogy is furthered by the necessity to increase awareness of the causal relationships between humans and their effect on the global environment. Moore has the deepest faith in the healing and communicative capacity of the arts, and belief that making a difference for the future requires dedicated commitment to changing our ways today.

Moore received her PhD in Arts Administration in the Department of Art Education at the Florida State University College of Fine Arts.
